How does it work?

VOD pre-caching technology relies on two elements: the CPE and multicast.

• The CPE is used to pre-cache video content.
• Multicast is used to send video content to the home gateway during off-peak hours. For example, at night, when multicast is barely used by subscribers, it can be utilized to provision the CPE with content selected by the NSPs.
