NAB Show 2023 – The Centennial 

Every year, media professionals from all around the world congregate at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show. One of the biggest professional events in broadcasting started out as a tiny radio conference in 1923 and it’s completing its centennial this year. The NAB Show exhibits cutting-edge technology with several thousands of people visiting the event each year to discover new developments in the production and delivery of digital media.

That’s why NAB is an important show for Broadpeak. As a leader in the development of technologies for video delivery, we were there to discuss everything related to quality of experience, high performance and monetization, as explained by Broadpeak’s CEO, Jacques Le Mancq, during an interview with Clare Plaisted:

 

The number of participants was significantly larger than the previous year, though it hasn’t yet surpassed pre-covid levels. Nevertheless, the overall feeling of the NAB Show 2023 was one of excitement to learn about the newest technologies, connect with specialists in the field, and experience cutting-edge media technologies. As new(ish) trends arose and well-established broadcasters continued to innovate, there was a strong air of optimism across every part of the event. It was not different at Broadpeak’s booth.

Out of its 10th participation, it was the best NAB Show for Broadpeak with the largest booth ever. “This year we had a 1200 square feet booth which was our biggest so far. A lot of work, a lot of energy spent, that, in the end, feels just like great teamwork and an over whole feeling of accomplishment. This NAB was my first one and I will never forget it!” said Mathilde Jouault, Field Marketing Manager for Americas, who helped organize this brilliant edition of Broadpeak’s presence at NAB.

Technology Demos

At the show, we exhibited our solutions for operators, OTT platforms and content providers at the Las Vegas Convention Center. “We had the occasion to demonstrate our high-performance software solutions together with our 2 Cloud Platforms”, said Mathilde. LATAM at NAB Show

Latin America is a key region for Broadpeak and many visitors from LATAM also always attend NAB Show. We met Cesar Silva, Pre-Sales Director, and David Peredo, Sales Director, to learn more about what the opportunities are and how Broadpeak ensures great service and support to our customers in Latin America.

 

Trends

Low Latency and monetization were on everyone’s lips as also was sustainability, validating that our solutions are answering the current needs. Our BkS450 high-performance video streaming software, which reduces energy consumption for video delivery down to 1 Watt/Gbps, has been recognized with an Honorable Mention for the NAB Excellence in Sustainability Award.

Low Latency, especially when it comes to major sports events, is one of Broadpeak’s main expertise. During the 2022 FIFA World Cup VO and Broadpeak cooperated to install a system at Israeli operator Cellcom, that was able to bring signal latency for the matches it streamed down to as low as three seconds.

On the monetization side, we were proud to share use cases on how we have been helping customers to leverage every monetization opportunity with targeted ad insertion and how broadpeak.io helps make it even easier with Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) customization.
