Scale live video streaming to all screens, with no compromise on QoE
M-ABR – Multicast ABR – was invented by Broadpeak in 2011 to bring together the best of two worlds: the scalability and compelling Quality of Experience (QoE) of broadcast TV and the capability to reach all screens brought by ABR formats.
A single stream is sufficient to feed millions of viewers at the same time in a cost-effective manner, leveraging the unique control operators have on their multicast resource. The M-ABR technology simply erases the dimensioning and scalability challenge that sudden peaks of traffic on very popular content could represent. And also brings tremendous savings when it comes to energy consumption.

WHAT’S MORE ABOUT Multicast ABR
Multicast ABR requires to deploy two main components: a transcaster in the head-end to encapsulate the unicast stream into multicast and a nanoCDN agent in the home gateways or STBs to convert the multicast back into unicast.
With more than 10 years experience in mABR, Broadpeak has integrated the nanoCDN agent with more than 150 models of CPEs: ONTs, home gateways, cable modems and STBs, including Android TV boxes and Apple TV. New models can be easily supported on demand.
