Running on 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, Broadpeak’s Video Streamer Offers a 72% Throughput Performance Jump and 11% Boost in Energy Efficiency over the previous generation.
CESSON-SEVIGNE, France — Sept. 14, 2023 — Broadpeak®, a leading provider of content delivery network (CDN) and video streaming solutions for content providers and pay-TV operators worldwide, announced today the latest version of its BkS450 video streaming software, offering a remarkable improvement in energy efficiency and cost savings for video streaming. Powered by 4th gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the BkS450 software enables video service providers to deliver low-latency 4K video streaming services, immersive content, and other bandwidth-intensive offerings at up to 1.09 Tbps of HTTPS traffic with a power efficiency of up to 1.21 Gbps/Watt, an 11% improvement in energy efficiency compared to the previous generation solution.
“Our new BkS450 software passes the symbolic threshold of 1 Terabit per second performance, in HTTPS and on a relatively modest hardware configuration, setting a new standard for more energy and cost-efficient video streaming,” said Nivedita Nouvel, vice president of product marketing at Broadpeak. “We’re proud of our collaboration with Intel and the massive improvements we’ve made in video streaming performance and energy efficiency since we’ve been working together.”
Broadpeak’s BkS450 stream offers a 72% improvement in throughput performance compared with the previous generation, while consuming significantly less power than traditional video servers. Broadpeak obtained this measurement using a sophisticated benchmark tool that measures hundreds of thousands of concurrent connections, demonstrating that BkS450 software is tested for realistic, high-concurrency traffic patterns.
The BkS450 software supports HTTPS traffic, the secure version of HTTP, using SSL/TLS protocol for encryption and authentication. Utilizing the BkS450 software, video service providers can deliver advanced video streaming services with increased agility, a smaller hardware footprint, and a reduced impact on the environment. Through its high-density design, the BkS450 video streamer saves crucial space in data centers and eliminates the need to use proprietary components, increasing cost savings for service providers.
Broadpeak will showcase the BkS450 software at IBC 2023, Sept. 15-18 at stand 1.F76.
