Our 2024 Wrap Up
2024 kicked off with a fresh chapter for Broadpeak—our new headquarters. After moving in in January, we officially opened our new home at 3771 Bd des Alliés, 35510 Cesson-Sévigné, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Jean-Pierre Savignac, Mayor of Cesson-Sévigné, along with REALITES, the real estate company leading program, our neighbors from the Creative Seeds , Licorne Rouge, and Capétudes – Résidences étudiantes in early Spring.
This is Broadpeak’s fourth address, but the first to be custom-built. The theme? Mountains. The building is aptly named The Peak. It’s more than just a name—it’s a symbol of the climb we’re on. The journey to the top happens through collaboration, where every single person’s contribution matters. And with this new space, we’re set up for success.
We’ve already had the pleasure of welcoming partners and customers who visited The Peak and were impressed by what they saw. We look forward to hosting many more in 2025—come see us!
Putting our Customers on the Fast Track to Maximizing Revenue
In 2024, ad insertion was a central focus for Broadpeak, and we made significant strides in transforming how video streaming services approach monetization. Our innovations, including broadpeak.io’s Click2® and Spot2Spot, have provided streaming platforms with powerful tools to increase engagement and unlock new revenue streams.
Click2®, our interactive advertising feature, allows viewers to interact with ads while continuing to watch content. This feature drives higher engagement and opens up new revenue models, enabling video service providers to charge for ads on a pay-per-click basis instead of the traditional pay-per-impression
Launched just this year, Click2® has already racked up major industry awards, including the IABM BaM Award, NAB Product of the Year 2024, and the Streaming Media Europe Innovation Award. It’s clear—Click2® is redefining what’s possible in OTT and CTV advertising.
But Click2® wasn’t the only innovation that helped shape ad insertion in 2024. We also saw Spot2Spot’s adoption, our application that provides spot-level ad replacement for live video streaming. This feature has become essential for addressable TV services, as it gives platforms the ability to replace specific ad spots within an ad break, improving ad targeting and streamlining monetization.
In April 2024, TF1, one of France’s largest broadcasters, partnered with Broadpeak to power its new TF1+ streaming service. By leveraging Spot2Spot, TF1 became the first live addressable TV service to be monetized at the spot level. This collaboration highlights the future of addressable TV, where viewers receive highly relevant ads during live programming, helping TF1 boost revenue and create more personalized viewing experiences for its audience.
Likewise, Comercio TV, a U.S.-based Spanish-language financial news channel, selected Broadpeak’s broadpeak.io SaaS platform to optimize its OTT delivery and monetization. With SSAI integration, Comercio TV achieved improved ad targeting and performance, enhancing its ability to monetize its content effectively. The platform’s ability to deliver optimized content while providing real-time data insights on ad playback and subscriber behavior was a key reason for Comercio TV’s success.
In Vietnam, VSTV (K+), a leading pay-TV operator, is using Broadpeak’s broadpeak.io SaaS platform to monetize its live and AVOD services through server-side ad insertion (SSAI). The platform enables personalized ad insertion for 10,000 hours of exclusive VOD content and 40 live channels, including major events like Formula 1 and English Premier League soccer. Integration with SpringServe ad server and advanced ad tracking using the BPK SmartLib® SDK enhances monetization strategies and provides detailed analytics on performance and viewer experience.
The deployment of Spot2Spot and other broadpeak‘s solutions in 2024 showed that Broadpeak is leading the charge in smarter, more efficient video streaming and ad monetization. Our partnerships with important players like TF1, CTS, K+, prove we’re not just keeping up with the industry — we’re pushing it forward. By putting next-gen ad insertion tools in the hands of our customers, we’re reshaping how video streaming gets paid.
Broadpeak’s Push for Sustainable Video Streaming
In 2024, we continued making progress to reduce the environmental impact of video streaming. Through key innovations and partnerships, we aim to remain at the forefront of energy-efficient content delivery.
1. Sustainable Live Streaming with TM Forum Catalyst
Broadpeak was part of the TM Forum Catalyst project, focused on optimizing live streaming to reduce energy consumption. Working with partners like Bouygues Telecom and TF1, the project explored solutions like mutualized edge caching and multicast adaptive bitrate streaming (ABR). These innovations have achieved up to 90% reduction in energy usage and hardware requirements without sacrificing quality.
2. New Energy Consumption KPIs on Monitoring Portal
Broadpeak has added a new energy consumption KPI feature to its monitoring portal, enabling video service providers to track and optimize energy usage. The portal provides real-time insights on key metrics like CPU wattage, total energy usage, and temperature, helping operators make data-driven decisions to lower their carbon footprint.
3. Driving Industry-Wide Sustainability
By leveraging technologies like multicast ABR and mutualized caching, Broadpeak helps reduce server load and energy consumption. The company’s involvement in initiatives like Greening of Streaming and TM Forum Catalyst highlights its role in fostering broader industry solutions for sustainable video delivery.
Leading the Way to Efficient Streaming
Broadpeak is leading the way with energy-efficient solutions that support a more sustainable future for video streaming. Through solutions like Multicast ABR (MABR), which reduces infrastructure costs and energy consumption, and strong industry partnerships, Broadpeak not only cuts costs but also boosts performance and sustainability.
MABR allows for the efficient delivery of live events to large audiences, helping providers lower network costs and deliver high-quality content more sustainably. This approach benefits everyone: it’s cost-efficient, performance-driven, and environmentally friendly.
Scaling Live Streaming with nanoCDN®: Broadpeak’s Multicast ABR Delivers
We’ve been at the forefront of Multicast ABR technology from the start, and it continues to be a highlight of what we do. This year, Broadpeak’s nanoCDN multicast ABR solution has once again proven its power. We’ve signed major new deals, and new deployments have been announced—like our partnership with BT Group, which is set to take live video streaming to the next level.
The new MAUD solution, built on Broadpeak’s multicast ABR technology, is revolutionizing how live events are streamed. It promises to boost streaming quality, reliability, and efficiency while cutting costs. With the MAUD solution, BT Group is enhancing the video experience for viewers and broadcasters alike—delivering smoother, more consistent content, even during high-traffic events.
This partnership with BT Group is just one of Broadpeak’s nanoCDN technology’s major wins of this this year alongside with Claro in several countries around the world, and others, These are prime examples of how Multicast ABR is stepping up to handle massive live events.
Just look at the issues Netflix faced during the live streaming of the Paul/Tyson match. With over 120M viewers and 65M simultaneous streams, it became the largest streaming event ever for Netflix, but many viewers experienced frustrating issues like video freezes and buffering. Now, if Netflix had deployed multicast ABR, the story could have been very different. With multicast ABR, a single stream can be sent through the network, avoiding congestion during those peak traffic moments, ensuring that millions of viewers can watch without interruption.
This is the power of Broadpeak’s multicast ABR solution. It’s not just about handling the traffic—it’s about delivering a consistent, high-quality streaming experience, even during events with huge demand.
This is the direction streaming technology is heading—moving from the limitations of traditional unicast delivery to the flexibility and efficiency of multicast ABR.
It’s a wrap!
